Eye on Grace Foundation

The Eye on Grace Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2024 by Ocular Melanoma patient, Ashley McCrary. Ocular Melanoma is a rare and often aggressive cancer originating in the eye. It is diagnosed in 6/1,000,000 per year, approximately 2500 in the U.S. per year. Ashley was originally diagnosed with OM in 2012 and had her right eye enucleated. Eight years later, in October of 2020 the cancer metastasized to her liver, then later to her lung and breast. At the time only a few places in the U.S. treated Metastatic Uveal Melanoma. Ashley found herself traveling from Auburn, Alabama to Philadelphia, PA to be treated by the world-renowned doctors at Thomas Jefferson Hospital.  After 8 months of liver directed treatment, she discovered the treatment was not working, however, she learned she qualified for a clinical trial. To participate in the trial, she had to travel 887 miles weekly to Philadelphia.  Fortunately, travel costs were minimal due to the sponsorship of the trial and a cancer indemnity plan she purchased through her employer. Ashley recognized this divine provision from God enabled her to not let the cost of travel prevent her from the treatment she needed.

In an effort to “pay it forward,” Ashley and her family established the Eye on Grace Foundation to help alleviate the financial burden associated with travel and treatment for those with Ocular Melanoma.

The foundation’s motto to “keep your eye on grace” reflects our desire to inspire people with OM to know God sees you and hears you. He longs to be gracious to you. We recognize having cancer is hard and having a rare cancer, which often requires travel, is even harder. When we are at our weakest His grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9). He is our strength and provider and cares about the details in our lives.
